As the drought intensified in Somalia, the need for aid has increased dramatically, the HARO team in Xudur city, the Bakool religion met with 400 families families fleeing from cities in the same region looking for any type of aid including shelter, food and medical assistance. The team rushed to provide the critical aid such as water and food to keep them from starving.
The HARO team spoke with the media and told them that this aid is a part of larger humanitarian assistance for the people living in the Bakool and Gedo region.
The leaders of the South West region of Somalia spoke with media and mentioned how they are grateful that organizations such HARO came to help the thousands of people who are displaced by the drought. They also added that other organizations should see HARO as an example of a organization that is doing tremendous job in the region.
In addition to that, HARO saw the need for immediate help when it comes to people seeking water, the organization used local workers driving water tank trucks to reach to people living in cities in Bay state, especially in the district of Buur Hakaba and small cities surrounding the district of Baydhaba, such as Idlow, Caasho Gaabo, Tumaale, Haare, Abees Garwaale, Laan Buule, Makubo ADC, Daanyeereey and many others as HARO officials and the leaders of South West state of Somalia managed the distribution.
When the disribution concluded, the people who received the aid were grateful for HARO and the people of Seattle Washington especially the people who attend Abubakar Islamic Center and the people who attend Al Huda Islamic Center in San Diego, California.
In conclusion, the drought has forced people who used to live as nomads flood in the cities after their livestock died because lack of water after many years of living through lack of rain.
