5000 families have been displaced by the flooding of the Shabelle river in Beletweyne amid deepening the humanitarian situation in the region. Hirshabelle president and Hiraan administration have held talks on this arising humanitarian crises last night at Beletweyne. They affirmed that the displaced people have fled to the outskirts of the town and are in the harsh situation.
They pleaded to aid agencies working in the region to quickly respond to this emergency situation. The displaced people have settled in the outskirt of the town such as Eel Jaale, Eel Gaal and other areas surrounding the town, said Hiraan governor. The river floods every rainy season and had affected the lives of the Beletweyne residents and the farming sector in great.
