HARO has held the second annual gala dinner fundraising event in Holidays Inn hotel at San Diego, California on December 16th 2012. This fundraising dinner was designed to create awareness about the suffering young children are enduring in east Africa specially with increase of conflicts and famine for the last few years. More than 20,000 children have died since the famine of 2011 started according to U.S reports.
The goal for this event was to raise $75,000 to buy a land for many families that are suffering in the refugee camps located in Mogadishu. With help of our sponsors such as provide commerce and all its subsidiaries including Proflowers, RedEnvelope and Shari’s Berries, HARO and it’s volunteers were able to organize unforgettable night for more than one hundred attendees.
Everyone who came to the event was able to take part of special silent auction and rifle, many people won different prizes such as memberships for gyms and massage therapies. The event started with opening speech by Hassan Abdinur – San Diego State University student and the son of Ali Hajji (The president of HARO) and ended with closing speech by Ali Haji himself.
